Overview:

A festive activity where students match pictures to their corresponding initial sounds to decorate a Christmas tree. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and match objects with their initial sounds.
  • Develop phonemic awareness by focusing on beginning letters.
  • Enhance fine motor skills through cutting and gluing activities.

How the Activity Works:

Students cut out images of Christmas-themed objects (e.g., candle, bells, reindeer) and match each picture to its corresponding initial letter. They then glue the images onto the Christmas tree at the spot indicated by the matching letter. This fun and hands-on activity helps students practise recognising initial sounds while engaging in a creative holiday-themed task.
