Overview:

A hands-on sorting activity designed for middle years students to classify angles as acute, right, or obtuse. This helps students recognise and differentiate between the three types of angles based on their measure.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and classify angles as acute, right, or obtuse.
  • Understand the characteristics of each type of angle.
  • Develop spatial reasoning by matching angles with their correct classification.

How the Activity Works:

Students are provided with a set of angle cards featuring different angles. They must sort the angles into three categories: acute, right, and obtuse. Acute angles are less than 90°, right angles are exactly 90°, and obtuse angles are greater than 90° but less than 180°. Students cut and paste the angle cards into the correct sections. This activity helps students visually understand the different types of angles and strengthens their classification skills.
