Overview:

This activity involves reading a Halloween-themed passage about two brothers preparing for trick-or-treating. Students will compare and contrast the brothers' costumes, personalities, and plans for the evening using a Venn diagram. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify and compare key details about two characters.
  • Recognise how to use a Venn diagram to show similarities and differences.
  • Develop understanding of character traits and how they influence actions and decisions.

How the Activity Works:

Students will read the passage about the two brothers, each dressing up in a different Halloween costume for trick-or-treating. After reading, students will use a Venn diagram to compare and contrast the brothers. They will list the unique traits or actions of each brother in separate sections, while the overlapping part of the diagram will highlight similarities. This activity promotes critical thinking and helps students organise their ideas visually.
