Adding & Subtracting Time, Hour Intervals

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

An activity designed to help students practise adding and subtracting time in hour intervals. Students read the times, calculate the elapsed time, and write the new times in both analogue and digital formats. Designed for early years students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Add and subtract time in hourly intervals.
  • Represent time in both analogue and digital forms.
  • Strengthen time-telling skills by working with hour intervals.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a starting time and an elapsed time. They add or subtract the elapsed time to find the new time, then represent the result in both analogue and digital formats. For example, students may start with 2:00 and add 1 hour to arrive at 3:00. This activity helps students practise time calculations and reinforces the connection between analogue and digital representations.
