Choose Units of Measure, Capacity

Overview:
Students identify appropriate units of measurement for capacity and estimate the capacity of various containers. They will circle the most suitable unit of measurement (mL or L) and estimate the capacity of each container. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the appropriate units of measurement (mL or L) for different objects.
- Estimate the capacity of various containers.
- Develop an understanding of how to use mL and L in real-world contexts.
How the Activity Works:
Students are presented with a variety of containers (such as a can, fish tank, and wheelbarrow) and are asked to circle the most appropriate unit of measurement (mL or L) to describe the capacity of each object. They will then estimate the capacity of each container by selecting the correct option (e.g., 50mL, 1L, 5L) for each. This activity helps students practise understanding capacity and develop skills in estimating volume using millilitres and litres.
