Measure Lines with a Ruler

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

Students use a ruler to measure lines and record their lengths. They will also draw lines to specified lengths, reinforcing their understanding of measurement and accuracy. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

  • Measure the length of lines accurately using a ruler.
  • Record the measured lengths in centimetres.
  • Draw lines to specified lengths, improving precision and understanding of measurement units.

How the Activity Works:

Students will first measure a set of lines using a ruler and record their lengths in the appropriate units (centimetres). They will then be tasked with drawing lines to specified lengths, such as drawing a line exactly 5cm long. This activity helps students practise both measuring and drawing lines accurately, reinforcing their understanding of length and the use of a ruler in real-world applications.
