Overview:

Students compare pairs of fractions using the correct inequality symbols (<, >, =), supported by visual models. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

Compare fractions using the correct inequality symbols.
Understand and apply the concept of greater than, less than, and equal to when comparing fractions.
Reinforce fraction concepts through the use of visual models.

How the Activity Works:

In this activity, students are given pairs of fractions and asked to compare them using the symbols for greater than, less than, or equal to. They colour in the fraction models to visually assist in comparing the fractions, helping to solidify their understanding of which fraction is larger or smaller. The use of models allows students to better visualise and understand fractional relationships..
