Convert Centimetres to Metres

Overview:

Students convert centimetre lengths to metre lengths by cutting and pasting matching lengths. This activity helps reinforce the relationship between centimetres and metres, improving students’ understanding of metric conversions. Designed for students in year 5 and year 6.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a set of lengths in centimetres and a corresponding set of lengths in metres. They cut out the centimetre lengths and match them to their equivalent metre lengths. For example, 220cm matches with 2.2m. This hands-on activity helps students visualise and practise converting between centimetres and metres, reinforcing their understanding of metric units in a practical way.
