Longer or Shorter than 1m

Overview:

A cut-and-paste activity where students estimate whether objects are longer or shorter than 1 metre. Designed for students in years 2 and 3.

Learning Objectives:

• Estimate the length of objects in relation to 1 metre.
• Develop skills in comparing the length of objects using non-standard units.
• Practice making estimations based on the concept of 1 metre.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a set of objects and asked to estimate whether each one is longer or shorter than 1 metre. They will cut and paste the objects into the appropriate categories, based on their estimation. This activity helps reinforce the concept of measuring length in relation to 1 metre and encourages students to develop their skills in estimation and comparison.
