Shopping Centre: Scale & Perimeter

Overview:

A worksheet where students use a scale to calculate the perimeters of various areas on a shopping centre map. Designed for years 4 and 5 students.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a shopping centre map with a scale and are tasked with calculating the perimeter of various locations, such as the Information Kiosk, All Sports Store, and Olive’s Café. They use the scale provided to measure the sides of each area and add them up to find the perimeter. A challenge at the end of the activity asks them to calculate the total perimeter of the entire shopping centre. This activity helps students practise their understanding of measurement, scale, and perimeter in a real-world setting.
