Fractions Match: Line Up

Overview:

This activity challenges students to match fraction symbols, words, and visual models. Students will line up the correct fraction symbol, its corresponding word form, and a visual representation (such as a fraction circle or bar) to complete the activity. Designed for year 2 and year 3 students.

How the Activity Works:

Students are presented with a series of fraction representations, including symbols (e.g., 1/2), words (e.g., one-half), and visual models (e.g., a shaded portion of a circle or bar). The task is to line up the corresponding representations of each fraction. For example, students might need to match the symbol "1/4" with the word "one-quarter" and a visual representation of a quarter of a circle. This activity helps students develop a deeper understanding of fractions by seeing them in different forms, reinforcing their ability to connect the visual model to both the symbolic and written forms.
