Overview:

This worksheet helps students name fractions shown by fraction models in both symbols and words. Students are given a fraction model and are tasked with writing the fraction in its symbolic and verbal form. Designed for students in year 3 and year 4.

Learning Objectives:

Recognise and name fractions from visual models, such as fraction circles and fraction bars.
Express fractions in both symbols and words.
Develop an understanding of how fractions can be represented visually, symbolically, and in words.

How the Activity Works:

In this activity, students are presented with fraction circles and fraction bars depicting different fractions. They are asked to identify the fraction shown and write it in both symbolic form (e.g., 3/4) and in words (e.g., three-fourths). This activity helps students make connections between fraction models and their corresponding symbols and words. By practising this skill, students strengthen their understanding of how fractions can represent parts of a whole and enhance their ability to recognise and name fractions in various forms.
