Empty, Half Full or Full?

EASYTEACHING.NET

Overview:

A cut and paste activity designed for early years students, where they identify and classify the amount of liquid in various containers as empty, half full, or full. This helps students develop an understanding of volume and how to compare different levels of liquid in containers.

Learning Objectives:

  • Recognise and categorise different levels of liquid in containers.
  • Develop a basic understanding of capacity and volume.
  • Improve fine motor skills through cutting and pasting.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given images of containers filled with varying amounts of liquid. They cut and paste the containers into one of three categories: empty, half full, or full. By engaging in this activity, students visually explore the concept of volume, helping them understand how containers can be compared based on how much liquid they hold. This task encourages them to categorise objects based on observable characteristics while practising their ability to recognise and label different levels of fullness.
