Ordering by Capacity
Overview:
A worksheet designed for early and middle years students, where they sort a variety of containers based on their capacity. This helps students practise comparing different container sizes and understanding the concept of capacity.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand and compare the capacity of different containers.
- Sort objects based on their volume or size.
- Develop organisational and categorisation skills through hands-on activities.
How the Activity Works:
Students are shown containers of various sizes, such as a spoon, bottle, and bathtub. They are tasked with sorting these containers in order, from smallest to largest capacity. Students will cut and paste the containers into the correct order, helping them understand the relative sizes of different objects and how capacity is measured. This engaging activity also promotes critical thinking as students visualise and compare the capacity of everyday items.
