Estimating 1L

Overview:

Students estimate whether the capacity of different items is less than, equal to, or greater than 1 litre. They will circle the appropriate option to show their estimate. Designed for year 3 and 4 students.

Learning Objectives:

• Estimate the capacity of various items in comparison to 1 litre.
• Develop an understanding of what items hold less than, equal to, or greater than 1 litre.
• Strengthen estimation skills and understanding of volume.

How the Activity Works:

Students are presented with various items (e.g., a spoon, pool, milk carton, etc.) and asked to estimate whether the capacity of each item is less than, equal to, or greater than 1 litre. They circle the correct option for each item. This activity helps students enhance their ability to estimate volume and reinforces their understanding of capacity in everyday contexts.
