Overview:

A worksheet designed for middle years students to estimate and compare the capacity of different containers. Students determine whether each container holds more or less than 1 litre, reinforcing their understanding of volume and measurement.

Learning Objectives:

  • Develop an understanding of container capacity in relation to 1 litre.
  • Compare different containers and estimate their capacities.
  • Practice applying measurement concepts to real-life objects.

How the Activity Works:

Students are given a selection of containers, such as an egg cup, fishbowl, and baby bottle, and are asked to estimate whether each container holds more or less than 1 litre. They then circle 'less' or 'more' to indicate their estimation. This activity encourages students to think critically about volume, using their understanding of everyday objects to compare and assess their capacities.
