Overview:

Students read analogue scales and answer questions about weight, comparing different objects and calculating differences. Scales are marked in 100g increments. Designed for year 4 and 5 students.

Learning Objectives:

  • Accurately read weights from analogue scales.
  • Compare and order weights of different objects.
  • Calculate weight differences using subtraction.

How the Activity Works:

Students observe a series of scales displaying different weights and answer related questions, such as How much does the laptop weigh? Which item is the heaviest? How much heavier is the laptop than the pot? This activity helps develop students’ ability to interpret scales, compare weights, and apply mathematical operations in a measurement context.
